traveling while black

i was having a conversation with a black woman & she was really concerned about having to deal with racism while traveling worldwide. i've been to Europe, australia, & parts of asia. funny thing is, i've had more racist encounters traveling in the usa than internationally. let that sink in.

maybe its because I only fly 1st class, never backpack, & don't stay in hostels. maybe its because I am lucky. or maybe its because America is a REALLY sh!tty place for black people. a white woman recently told me that it was disturbing how violent the police are now. i said it had always been so & black people have always been complaining about it. the only difference now is the internet. back in the day we had no voice, now its harder to bury your head in the sand & say "i don't see color".
