One Day She'll Darken: The Mysterious Beginnings of Fauna Hodel

so i am the night is based on One Day She'll Darken. normally i read the book first & then watch the movie/show but since iatn is mostly fiction,i figured there was no need. anyway, not even finished with the 1st chapter & already fauna is disrespecting the black woman who raised her(when her white mother refused to).i get jimmie lee was no saint but i'm not getting a good feeling at all & this is really making me not want to finish this.

also i HATE when people dont know what y'all means & keep using it. y'all = you all, meaning multiple people yet fauna types it as "yo'all" & uses it to refer to one person.i get she didnt have a huge budget for editors but not one person who read it caught that in time?

the main problem with "One Day She'll Darken" is that fauna hodel isnt an interesting person. her circumstances are interesting & her grandfather george hodel is interesting, but she isnt. i'm sure this book would have made millions in the 1950s/60s but now, who gaf if a white girl is raised by black parents?

the book was garbage & its weird that they based the show after a tiny part of it instead of just creating different characters.
