this is one of the few times that I haven't read the book before watching.call the midwife 
can be a bit saccharine but the delivery scenes are SO realistic and the costumes are to die for.it gets much better after the lead actress leaves, her character was too perfect/annoying. miranda hart
steals every scene she is in but you already knew that.
